This portable geodesic dome is made of electrical conduit pipes and heavy-duty tarps.
Built as a portable temporary shelter for the 1999 and 2000 Burning Man Festival, this interesting geodesic dome can be assembled on location in "a couple of (leisurely) hours" by one or two people. Building all the components might take a bit longer than that, and requires some power tools, but once the finished parts are at hand, assembly goes quickly with only simple hand tools. The article includes complete details on making the components and assembling the dome. The design includes a rain hat covering a ventilation hole at the top.
Various design alternatives and alternate covering materials are discussed and there are plenty of photos, which are all clickable to view enlargements.
